General Purpose Computer Laboratory

Geography/Geology Building Room 153

This computer lab consists of 16 Dell Optiplex GX 280 SFs (P4 2.8 GHz ,512 RAM, Radeon X300 display, NIC Broadcom 57, Philips CDRW/DVD) with 17-inch flat panel monitors. These computers dual boots Win XP Pro/ Fedora Core 3.

Available peripherals include an Epson Perfection 1650 scanner with Photoshop Elements on the connecting computer. The computers are also equipped with DVD/CD-RW drives and the Roxio Easy CD Creator software. The lab has a networked HP inkjet 2250 and an HP 2200dn, a black & white duplex laser printer.

In the ceiling is mounted a Sharp XG C50XU Notevision LCD projector.

These PCs run software for introductory classes in geography, as well as more general software and special request software.

This lab was funded with Student Technology Fees.

Lab 153 is accessible to undergraduate and graduate geography majors in the department and to students in geography classes which currently use the room for instruction. The room is set up for projection of computer screens, overhead transparencies or slides, and may be reserved for instructional labs.
