GIS / Remote Sensing Computer Laboratory
Geography/Geology Building Room 313
This lab consists of 8 Dell Optiplex GX280
SFs (P4,3 GHZ 1GB RAM ) with 21 " flat panel monitors.
Available peripherals include a networked HP
inkjet 2500c and HP 2300dn, a black & white duplex laser
printer. The computers are also equipped with DVD writers
( will write CDs) and the Sonic DVD/CD writing software.
Additionally there is an iMac with an Epson
Perfection 3200 Photo scanner attached along with a scandisk
for reading compact flash cards. The home directory (H: drive)
from Pangaea can be mounted on the Macintosh through the
Finder by selecting, Go, Connect to Server and selecting
smb://pangaea.ggy.uga.edu
These computers run standardized software
for GIS and Remote Sensing research and classes. It also
has a variety of software packages installed on individual
computers that are not accessible in other labs, eg. Macromedia
Dreamweaver, Visual C++, SAS, PC Ord, and Freehand 10.
The lab room is set up for projection of computer
screens, overhead transparencies or slides, and may be reserved
for presentations.

Software Installed in Lab 313
Lab 313 is accessible to undergraduate and
graduate geography majors in the department and to students
in geography classes which currently use the room for instruction.
There is also a wide format plotter, HP Designjet
1050c in Lab 313. The drivers for the plotter are not installed
on the 313 computers, however, but only on individual computers
in faculty and grad student offices.
