Operating Multimedia Equipment in the SmartClassrooms -Room 200B, 200C, 200D, 300A


Getting Started - Turn on the ceiling mounted projector:
   1.  You must get a key to the smart classroom equipment cabinets from the main office, Room 204.

    2. There are two locks on the front door of the tall equipment cabinet. The key fits the bottom lock.

    3. The smartclassrooms have 3 remote controls in cabinet: Projector (Sanyo or Sharp),  VCR (Panasonic) and DVD (Panasonic)
        (The 200C smart classroom does not have a DVD - it predates 300A and 200B,C,D). There is also a cordless Logitech mouse.

    4. The "Projector" remote control has a power slide switch on its side - make sure it is on.
        Turn on the ceiling mounted projector with the "Projector" remote control by pointing the remote control towards the front
        of the projector and pressing the remote control "on" button.

    5. Make sure that the power strip on the very bottom shelf is on.

   6.  Make sure the amplifier on the shelf next to the bottom is on. There is a Master Volume Control switch.   (There is also an audio control for VCR/DVD/Comp)



To project VCR or University Cable television:
.  1.  Ensure that the VCR (top left inside cabinet) is turned on.

   2.  Use the "video" button on the "Projector" remote control to set the projector to video mode (again pointing remote toward projector)
        For 200C, on the "Projector" remote control, under Input Select, select VIDEO1.

   3. At the "Audio Video Switching System" panel in the top right of cabinet, press the VCR button.
       (The choices labeled on the "Audio Video Switching System are VCR, Comp Audio, Laptop Audio, DVD  (or Spare in 200C)).

    4. To hear audio/sound, make sure the amplifier on the next to the last shelf is on.

    5. Either select the cable channel you want using the VCR (see University Cable channel listing inside left cabinet door)
        or insert your VHS tape and press PLAY.



To project  a computer image from cabinet  PC or from your laptop:
    1. On the  "Projector" remote control, press the "computer" button. For 200C on the "Projector" remote control,under Input Select, select DATA2.

    2. If using the PC in the cabinet , ensure the switchbox labeled "Computer Video Switch" is set to "A:main" (instead of B:laptop)

    3. If using a laptop, find the video cable (on bottom shelf of cabinet) that is gray, and bound together with another
       gray cable labeled "Laptop Audio".) Connect the video cable to your laptop's video output (probably at the rear of your laptop.)
       At the switchbox labeled "Computer Video Switch" (middle of cabinet,select "B:laptop". You may need to reboot your laptop
       before the laptop will display its screen to the projector).

      Note: You can plug your laptop into the building network before or after connecting the video display. If your laptop is not set up to use
      the UGA GGS Bldg. network, please contact the system administrator's, Kate Blane 2-4962 located in Rm. 108.



To play computer audio from cabinet PC or from your laptop:
    1. You can play computer audio from either the PC in the cabinet or from your laptop over the classroom speakers,
       either in addition to, or instead of, displaying the computer screen image with projector.

    2. If using a laptop, find the cable (on bottom shelf of cabinet) labeled "Laptop Audio". (It is gray, and bound
       together with an a gray cable labeled "Laptop Video".) Connect the audio cable to your laptop's audio output.

    3. At the "Audio Video Switching System" in the top right of cabinet, choose the source for the audio: (3rd button  for Comp audio, 4th button  for laptop audio).

Projector Focus (200C) During projection, you can focus the projected image by pressing the "LENS" button on the "Projector" remote control until a focus grid
appears, then use the large round button to focus, by pressing it from "side to side" (pressing the button at about 3 o'clock and 9 o'clock.)



Using Laserdisc, DVD, or other electronic audio/video equipment (200C):
    1. Other audio/video equipment can be connected to the projector and speakers.

    2. Find the 2 cables bound together (bottom of cabinet) labeled "Aux. Video/Audio Input".
        Plug these into the relative output jacks of the equipment you want to use.

    3. At the "Audio Video Switching System" in the top right of cabinet, select choice "Spare".



Microphone(200C):
    1. There is a microphone  jack on the outside of the cabinet, near the floor on the left side. Volume for the microphone is labeled on the Amplifier
unit which is on the last shelf next to the bottom of the cabinet.


Finishing:
    1. When you finish using the projector, turn it off with its remote control. It will require a couple of minutes to cool down before it can
        be turned back on, so please wait until you are completely finished before turning it off. (Repeatedly pressing the ON button while
        it is cooling down may cause projector errors.)

    2. When you finish with the room, please replace all equipment and remote controls in appropriate cabinets, and lock the cabinet.

    3. Turn off the equipment - PC, VCR, DVD, etc. It is not necessary, though, to turn off the power strip.

    4. Finally you must return the key to the  equipment cabinet to the main office, Room 204.
