Dr. Welch teaches Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems, and Air Photo Interpretation. Dr. Welch's research interests include remote sensing /digital image processing, photogrammetry/image interpretation, GIS, and computer graphics/software development focused on applications in ecology, forestry, geography, geology and hydrology.
